This initiative has revitalized the economy of Kamikatsu village, particularly benefiting elderly farmers who can earn an income by growing and selling leaves. The project promotes sustainable agriculture since the leaves are locally sourced and require minimal resources to grow, resulting in a smaller environmental footprint compared to other forms of agriculture.
The globally renowned Zero Waste management system, located in Kamikatsu, Japan, is famous for its success in drastically reducing waste through a meticulous sorting system with 43 categories, and the active participation of the entire community. Additionally, the center serves as a learning hub for those interested in sustainable waste management practices.
